Worl of Tanks online game every once in a while has art compitions for "custom" player made tanks of varying genres. A previous contest was for a "custom" WWII era US tank. One winner was the successful mating of a T28 super heavy tank hull with the massive turret of the T29 heavy with a 155mm cannon. Fun stuff, eh? Well this time around the hot topic is that of Steampunk. (Think of the steam and hydralic powered mechanations of the movie, Wil Wild West. The one with Will Smith.) I decided to take stab at it and downloaded Google's free 3D program, Sketchup. After fiddling with it awhile I came up with this. There are a lot of details and other features I would like to have put on, but I am only learning still how to use it. Still I think it looks cool. http://i752.photobucket.com/albums/xx165/cobra9431/GrizzlySteampunkTank.jpg The idea is that it is a tank developed in 1876 durring Ulysses S Grant's term of office and armed with a 42mm Hotchkiss Mountain Gun and a .58cal Gatling Gun. Armor is 25mm in front and 13mm on sides and rear. Power is supplyed by Dual steam boilers and overlaping road wheels offer skid steering movement. I submitted it late last night (or was it this morning) and hope to hear back in a couple of weeks on the results. There have been a few realy good designs already. It's quite a bit ofun.
