I have used them in Battlebots to  fire pneumatics, and currently use one 
to fire an airsoft gun in my Mech  Warfare robot. If you have a receiver 
with a PWM output, it will work just  fine as a momentary switch, the 
operating  threshold for the switch  is adjustable. They don't latch on, 
just turn on at a given PWM level and  turn off when above or below that 
setting, depending on  configuration.

don't know about this PWM output, but do know these r/c units are a  few 
years old (say 10 years+).
 
now would my getting just new receivers do (for having this PWM) or would  
it need to be a hole new r/c unit (if that's the case, i'm going have to 
pass on  that for right now)
