Hey Stu, I just checked out the Sentry Project's website, interesting contraption!!
One major concern... Should this ever gain acceptance with the RC Tank Combat gang, the ammo allowance rules will need to be seriously reconsidered. 70+ mm gun = 1000 paintballs... The hopper will need to be as big as the tank! Obviously, this is a somewhat tongue-in-cheek response, as I'm sure the system can be modified to be single shot. PS How's the Sherman coming along? I sent an email to TheSentryProject.com, asking if their software could automate turret control. If it works, a tank could be driven by real-time-video and the turret would engage any tank-shaped target automatically. As it currently demonstrates, Identify Friend/Foe (IFF) might be an issue, as well as getting the turret to disengage after a target has been hit. It might lead to timed runs through an obstacle course on which targets knocked over are worth seconds subtracted from your time. (Of course, running targets over would be as good as shooting them.) Or the tank commander sticking out of the cupola might be the target, in which tanks can only move/shoot if the commander still has a head? I hope you and yours had a happy Turkey-Day, and have a safe weekend. Stu -- You are currently subscribed to the "R/C Tank Combat" group.
