I've been thinking about this myself using by using an IMU (inertial measurement unit). An IMU<https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10736>combines an accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer, and typically they run special algorithms<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attitude_and_heading_reference_system> to integrate those measurements to produce a YAW/PITCH/ROLL reading. These type of units are sometimes used in quadcopters and other aircraft for inflight stabilization. My thought was combine this type of unit with a sufficiently sized stepper motor for vertical gun control and possibly even turret rotation.
I haven't actually tried any of this, but it seems simple enough!!! :-D On Sun, Mar 31, 2013 at 10:16 PM, Damien <[email protected]> wrote: > all youd need are some gyros mounted to the gun inside the turret to guage > how its angled and a compass sensor for turret travers lock(see r/c plane > gyros/sensors for autonomous ans semi autonomous flight) then just > wire/program them in properly, even i can make something like that XD i > think i will now... > > > On Saturday, February 23, 2013 10:12:46 PM UTC-5, [email protected] wrote: >> >> You guys were just talking about this.
