Ok , now I`ve goggled capacitor and done some considerable reading, I`ve un blown my brain on the subject (after Mr Arundles complications) , so the only question is how many farads of a capacitor would one require for a 12v / 100w ( ish ) pair of motors ? do they have a "way round" + and - ? ( I did buy a 10 pack of caps many years ago that Joe Summer told me about, I`ll find and fit them )
Diodes, Im struggling with . Frank wrote - "relays/solenoids should always have at least a diode placed across the coil leads (in reverse direction)" my questions - 1, Are the "coil leads" the +&- wires ( v+ & gnd ) into the "relays/solenoid" ? 2 ,What size/type of diode ( there are many) for what size/type of coil ? does it matter? 3 ,How does the reverse direction thing work ? is that zero resistance side of the diode to the V+ wire on the relays/solenoid and Vice versa ? will anything be damaged if it was connected the wrong way ? I realize I know very little about electronics and to be honest it hurts my head, so if Im just out of my depth , please just tell me so and I`ll give up. but it would be nice to learn. my leopard ( T051 ) often fired a shot via the actuator when the turret turned at speed. I think the motor (that spat out sparks) triggered the actuator. id like to be able to avoid this in the future.
