Robert,
I don't know what Steve does, but here is my checklist.

        1. Two weeks before I chase all of the spiders out of the tank.
Especially the ones with the hourglass markings.
        2. Check all batteries, large mains, smaller ones for the brain
boards, AA's for my transmitter and 9 volt for the marker.
        3. Go through the paint left over from last fall, remove all
dimpled ones. ( set these aside to loan to the opposite team)
        4. Assemble all parts, check all systems, oil the marker , run a
magazine of ammo, and run it for 10 minutes or so (Did this on Sunday)
        5. Gather all needed tools, spare parts, extra batteries.
        6. Pray for fair weather.

Hope this helps.

John P.
