Neil, After researching the web concerning charging NiMH and NiCad batteries, I believe that they can both be used in the same devices (like the transmitter) and charged using the same charger. They are both 1.2V and have similar amperages and discharge curves. I have not had to replace my transmitter batteries yet, but when I do I plan on using NiMH since they are more common and easier to find than NiCad batteries these days. If I see a mushroom smoke cloud in the east over the ocean in the next few days, I'll know this was bad advice. Good luck. Bill
