I think of this one as a "semi-transcription" element--for print
textual works, at any rate.  True, catalogers record that final page,
or record the page number as given if incorrect, then provide the
correction.  On the other hand, AACR2 and RDA tell us to convert
page-numbers-as-words into arabic numerals.  So not always a strict
transcription for print works or their e-equivalent.
