The current training modules at LC allow for repeating subfield $a in the same field: http://www.loc.gov/aba/rda/training_modules.html http://www.loc.gov/aba/rda/source/Georgia_module_2_pt_2_17august2011.ppt Subfield $3 will be used for material specified if the 336, 337, and 338 fields need to be linked to a specific piece. There is also the possibility of combining the types, like carrier types, in a single field for a kit: 338 $a audio disc $a volume $a object as indicating the mixture of carrier types in a kit. So this would work for a kit: 336 $a text $a moving image $a spoken word 337 $a unmediated $a video $a audio 338 $a volume $a videodisc $a audio disc The values point the "types" for content, media, and carrier in the kit, and not to a comprehensive list of every single piece. I think at one point "category" was going to be used instead of "type" for the names of these elements. Thomas Brenndorfer Guelph Public Library
