Mario,

Was this a new backup made with 1.1.14? And then you tried a second
backup also using 1.1.14? Or did you first make this backup with 1.0.5?
What was the command line you used to create the backup (and try the
subsequent backups)?

What is the result of:
$ hexdump
/mnt/backup_local/kai/MUPSicherung/rdiff-backup-data/chars_to_quote

If this was a new backup, can you try making a new one, this time adding
the " -v4 " option and then send me the output?
