 RE:  Can anyone help me to determine the commutation type and rated power
factor (%) for a Fronius 4000 IG.   

 

Line commutation. Basically, this means they sync with an existing grid
(line). Non-islanding inverters are line commutated.

 

PF = 100% (aka 1.0 PF) according to their spec sheet. Double-check your copy
to make sure your application matches the datasheet... Technically,
grid-tied inverters operate at Unity Power Factor, i.e. "the same PF the
grid is giving it". But "Unity" is not a number, percentage or otherwise. I
used to put it on applications back in the day, just to be ornery.
