I also use the Fluke 337 clamp meter. I started buying Fluke in the
early '80's because I was at a trade show and saw a Fluke DVM thrown
in the air and land on a concrete floor as a demo of ruggedness. It
was the fact that he had done this hundreds of times since the show
started that sold me! All my important test instruments are Flukes
(when possible), scopemeter, DVM, temperature, amp clamp meters, etc,
but I also own some of the cheap import test gear for use by the
installers when I'm not around.

Thank you all for the good advice. Is the Fluke 336 rugged? Can it
be dropped?

Joel, the best "tool" Investment I ever made was my Fluke 336 (had
it for years until someone wanted it bad enough to steal), I
replaced it with a 337 and have a Mastech MS2138R as a back up,
both have served me well......

Subject: [RE-wrenches] Craftsman 82062 DC/AC Amp Clamp
Wrenches,
I really like my little Craftsman 82062 Multi-Meter with DC/AC Amp
Clamp because it has a wide range, measures amps, volts,
continuity, and low price. It's a handy little all-in-one trouble-
shooting tool - when it works. The trouble is it does not stand up
to field use (cheap). I'm really careful (even have the original
cheap plastic case in brand new condition) but have gone through 3
meters in a few years. Any recommendations for a small multi-meter
with a small DC amp clamp for getting into tight spaces? As always,
thank you very much for your advice.
