Ray,
Thanks for the input. We always design the ballasted systems with a structural engineer performing wind and roof loading calcs. We were asked this question by an engineer that is not familiar with the laws/codes in the U.S. and to my knowledge it has never come up before. Is someone actually giving you trouble on this issue, or are you just thinking ahead? R. Walters [email protected] Solar Engineer On Oct 26, 2009, at 1:51 PM, Jason Szrom wrote: Hello Wrenches... In typical ballasted systems, the combiner box is mounted on unistrut fastened to roof stand-offs which are not fastened to the roof. I was wondering what your opinion would be about this in reference to the following NEC section: 110.13 Mounting and Cooling of Equipment (A) Mounting. Electrical equipment shall be firmly secured to the surface on which it is mounted. Has anyone ever had a problem with this during an inspection?
