Hey Bill, I purchase and use distilled H2O only. After learning the battery charge and discharge chemical formula 22+ years ago I decided that only distilled was going in my batteries. Even one additional chemical, mineral, or metal and the entire equation goes south.
I did have a conversation with my Full River Battery rep , Brian in Denver and they sell a Deionized water setup @ $420, that is supposedly great for taking tap water and rendering it perfect for battery refill. (cheaper than a still) I think it would take 9 months to pay for the unit, at the rate we use distilled H2O. I did not ask how much the replacement filters were or how long they lasted, probably depends on water quality & hardness, and gallons flowed through the filter. A 12 month 100% payback seems like a good investment to me. I have _no_ experience with automatic battery watering systems but I can comment that the battery doesn't like contaminants. If I am seeing the "hose connection" correctly, attached to the garden faucet, then the distilled water may solve a number of heretofore "battery" problems. I bought a distiller and produce my distilled water for ~$0.07 per gallon. ----- Original Message ----- From: Dana <mailto:[email protected]> To: 'RE-wrenches' <mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Friday, April 01, 2011 4:37 PM Subject: [RE-wrenches] Battery watering I found Battery Watering Systems ; http://www.batterywatering.com/ Kits and lots of options on parts for battery service. I am getting a new pressure sprayer and ordered a "gun" that stops when the battery fluid is at a preset level $80, includes a flow meter visual, 20PSI pressure reducer, sprayer handle and auto stop tip. No more sore back from leaning over the battery bank, Yes!
