Expanding a bit upon Ray's suggestion:
For the DR series, which I believe was fundamentally an evolution of its predecessor U-series, Trace wanted to see 164V AC peak under load. This is because the charge function in the inverter grabbed the peak of the AC waveform. Many cheaper generators could maintain 117 VAC RMS, but the peak voltage would drop under load as each half-wave would flatten. This is why a generator could appear to be supplying 117 VAC under load but the DC  charge rate was anemic. Also, this issue was addressed very successfully when the first inverter-generators came out, as they maintained proper sinusoidal waveform under load.

You can always add a boost transformer from Backwoods Solar, to boost the VAC slightly (10%) to increase charge amps.
If you look at your peak voltage on that genny, its probably below 145 (should be 170 v peak for 120 v rms )

Hi Howie,

They were most sensitive to peak volts, not rms.

My 2512 manual shows 14.7 as high bulk and 16.1 for eq.
The 2624 should be double that.

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a link to the old Trace 2624 inverter/Charger (the one
with the plexiglass front. I believe the model number was U2624, but I'm
not positive.  I'm trying to remember what the maximum bulk voltage
setting was on it.  Also wondering how sensitive to lower gennie voltage
output (113 vAC) the charger was.  How much would that cut down on the
current output capacity?

Thanks,
Howie
