here is another battery related question i'd like feedback on. my home system 
is grid-tied with battery backup. the default 'sell' voltage was 51.2 (48 volt 
system). the new firmware sets that point at 52 volts. another manufacturer of 
these kinds of inverters now sets their default sell voltage at 53 VDC.
 
why has this increased over the years?
was there a finding that the batteries sitting there floating constantly needed 
a higher float voltage to stay charged or reduce electrolyte stratification?
