I'd be interested in seeing that homemade design....or a link to the home power article. We used a conventional lift for a while...it was pretty noisy, smelly, heavy and loud....but I suppose it was safer than most other ways of getting panels to the roof...

It has worked great for the past several years. As simple and cheap as it is, not sure if I'd spend the $ on a manufactured one?
