Hi Drake, I was referring to Generator charging. My understanding is the SI computes the battery recharge efficiency, counts amp hrs removed, and returns the amp hrs removed + the losses through inefficiency. It also has a function that's name escapes me at the moment to have a full complete charge every x cycles, so that in a generator cycle charging application one is not wasting fuel for long absorption stages for every single charge.
In our experience same batteries on a SI will last longer than the XW or Magnum - presuming it's mainly a cycle charge application.
