Hello Wrenches, I recently assessed a 22 year old Trace 4024. During bulk charge mode, I noticed that the charge would go from about 18A down to 5-6A every 15-20 seconds, and then repeat the cycle. I observed this for about 5 minutes relatively consistently I also noticed the body of the 4024 was very hot, and I couldn't feel a fan moving air through it.
I put a fan on it and blew air over the body of the inverter, trying to direct it through the machine. While I did that, I never observed it drop out again over about 5 minutes, so I'm assuming that there is an internal cooling fan that has gone out. It's been quite a while since I opened one of these up. Does anyone know what's involved in replacing a cooling fan on one of these? Is it worth it on a 22 year old inverter? Thanks in advance -- Mac Lewis *"Yo solo sé que no sé nada." -Sócrates*
