Is the Xantrex xPower 1500 still available?I have had one for years and it has worked great in power backups as well as out of my work truck.Just add solar and a cig lighter USB adapter and you could meet your requirements. I have friends in San Juan, with a mostly intact house (fortunately) but not much else. They have very limited cell service (texting only) and a temporarily borrowed consumer battery/inverter pack with small attached solar which gives them enough power to charge his cell phone and run a fan for a while at night. The little I've heard from them, things are desperate and getting worse on a daily basis. They have I am trying to figure out 2 things: 1. My friend is looking for a small, simple system to run their fridge, small fans, cell phone charger, and a few lights for his family. I am trying to figure out what to send them (via some of their family in Florida). I'm thinking a 1500-2000 Watt inverter, (2) 12 volt L16 AGMs, and a 300 Watt module with perhaps a simple PWM charge controller and load control. 2. I am considering traveling there with my daughter sometime this winter (depending on how the recovery goes) in order to help bring some smaller, functional power systems to folks that will surely need the help. Not sure if I can organize/leverage cheap or donated supplies from manufacturers or distributors and somehow get them down there with us. Anyone with island/developing world (which PR certainly is at this point) experience have any suggestions for best practices, appropriate equipment, effective approaches to such an endeavor, having never really attempted anything like this before. I want to be helpful and thoughtful about my effort, bringing items and attitudes that can help in the immediate as well as the medium term. I know this is not exactly on topic to this list, so I'm not sure if responses should be on or off list. Michael?
