Friends:
I am shopping for a battery inverter to add to legacy GT systems in AC coupled mode. I know this has been discussed generally here before but I did not see these criteria in particular addressed. Here are the requirements: 1. A 120/240 VAC output. 2. Built-in, programmable Aux relay. (I feel that frequency shift charging control should be backed up with a GT inverter disconnect relay. Therefore a built in, programmable Aux port simplifies the project.) 3. Good local interface and remote management via internet. 4. Economical (sub $2K). Here is how the inverters I am familiar with stack up: A. Outback FXR. Meets criteria 2, 3, 4. (Add an X-240 and meet criteria 1.) B. Magnum MS-PAE. Meets criteria 1, and 4 (I don’t like the local control module, I am not familiar with any remote capable monitoring systems). C. Conext 865-2524. Meets criteria 1, 4 (May meet 3 with com box--heard mixed reviews here. May meet 2 with creative use of AGS, anyone try this?) D. SMA Sunny Island. Meets none of the criteria. (May have a programmable relay, but all of the other negatives make it not worth my while to even look this up.) So far the FXR with an X-240 seems the best option. Second place is Conext, if I can tweak the outboard AGS to act as HBCO signal. Any other contenders that anyone can suggest? Thanks in advance.
