Haven't seen this discussed on the list yet: startups are making appliances with integrated batteries,"Energy Storage Equipped" appliances. Good podcast interview <https://www.volts.wtf/p/induction-stoves-with-batteries-built#details> with someone from DOE on how these are being funded and developed
This induction range <https://www.channingcopper.com/> is a 120V/15A plug and play replacement for a gas range, without needing to run a 240V circuit. The 4 kWh battery handles the intermittent peak load, and slowly recharges at 120V. Battery provides backup power during outages, and you can plug a refrigerator in too. I haven't seen any heat pump water heater ESEs yet, but there is a 15A/120V Rheem plug-in HPWH <https://www.rheem.com/heatpumpwaterheaters/>. Neither one is a good fit for off-grid, more for people trying to electrify but want to avoid rewiring the whole house. -- *Phil Boutelle,* *PE, CEM, NABCEP Emeritus* | Energy Engineer [email protected] | M (831) 359-5268 On Tue, Sep 26, 2023 at 2:36 PM David Palumbo via RE-wrenches < [email protected]> wrote: > I have old off-grid friends looking for advice on replacing an old LP Gas > range.
