I recently expressed my disappointment that users cannot override or adjust the smart load settings on the Midnite AIO.
I now realize that they can't easily override a smart load setting on an EG4 system with GridBoss, either. This seems like such a basic, necessary feature. Am I missing something? For example, if a "smart load" is set up to run only when the battery is between 50% and 100%, the user should be able to override that with the tap of a button to manually power the load if the battery is below 50%. You can't even rename a smart load circuit to determine what it is in the monitoring system. These smart load functions are really quite dumb and not very flexible. Even Enphase lets consumers easily override load-controlled circuits. Of any system, I would expect Enphase to lock consumers out of these functions since the brand is usually more consumer-oriented rather than enthusiast or off-gridder. These manufacturers need to do better if they want to market these features as "smart." Jason Szumlanski Florida Solar Design Group
