cmake is good for small or simple projects, and almost inevitable choice 
if Visual Studio support is needed,
but its mix of declarativity and implicit imperativity is a bit pain in 
the ass :)
As for maintainers, my experience with reporting bug was good: it was 
fixed in 2 months.
