This should work automatically. Is it not working for people?
When you have a new record and call save() on it, the pk fields should be updated with the data from the db. If it's not then this is a bug.

I would like to know how to do this with MS SQL as well. Returning the PK of an auto-increment would be very helpful in some situations. The ability to get the @@Identity back without having to re-query for what you just inserted.
