It might be overkill for the TOs.  It creates a dependency in flex remote
class declarations to DBMS specific TOs.  If we can't come up with a
situation where they are really needed, I think it would be wise to simplify
the TOs for better integration with other software tiers that consume them
(i.e. Flex).

We're doing the same thing, and just put up with getting back the DBMS 
specific TO, as it saves the overhead* of converting to the non-specific 
version.
If we ever changed databases, we'd want to retest the app. anyway.

But no, can't think of anytime you'd have DBMS specific TO.
