The only place I've used them is with default values with MySQL. In MySQL
you can't use expressions so I've updated the dbms specfic TO to set the
default TO value to now().

It's a bit of a stretch :)

I don't necessarily think they are weird because the rest of the reactor

important for the framework as more and more people adopt Flex.

Speaking purely from opinion here, a transfer object should be pretty
universal so that you can pass it along to other technologies—the Reactor
TOs generally work great, but the DBMS specific class makes for a
semi-permanent communication vehicle between Flex and a service using
Reactor. We have an application that will be utilizing literally hundreds
of TOs generated by Reactor and we actually might be switching the DBMS
from MSSQL to MySQL. Not horrible to fix, but a point to consider
none-the-less.

Doug, since you architected this… can you drum up any situation where the
extra inheritance is needed in the TOs? This conversation is pretty much
moot if there is a use case for it and I won't waste my time conversing over
this for the sake of flex anymore. Actually, I am just really curious
now…

FYI, although I welcome criticism, and I frankly agree that database
specific TOs are a bit of a weird concept, this is not something I plan to
change.

If you feel strongly about it you can file a ticket and people can add
their support to it.

I'm for that one, it'll make the Flex code cleaner.
