As long as it doesn't create unneccessary records and isn't grinding the system to a slowdown then I'd say go with it to meet your deadline. Sounds like there is another phase to the project which might just render the code obsolete or give you the chance to rethink it if neccessary. It doesn't sound bad though at all.
