When REAL made container controls "pro-only" it indicated to me that they did not want standard level customers contributing to the success of their product. This would have been really good for everyone, but REAL let everybody know they reward the Pro users, and their impression of Standard users is that we're just along for the ride.
I intend to pay up again if REAL releases Universal Binary functionality-- it's required to build for the Mac platform now -- meanwhile, RB2005 delivered me a downgrade.
REALbasic has become very huge since the release of 2005, largely because the frameworks for all the platforms are included in the product. It could be more fair to standard customers to license use of only the frameworks they want to build for, and for sure the product would be much smaller to download and try out for customers new to the idea of using their product.
