Hi All,

Is there any way of identifying a unique name for each computer on a network
without using a plugin. I would like each workstation to register on a
server program but they each need to be unique. It would be nice to get something automatically through RB without having to write a unique name for
each machine manually. TCP/IP numbers are no use as they often change.

Any ideas would be welcome.

Or just do the simple, stupid thing.

Generate a 128-bit random string. The odds of a collision are so fantastically tiny, you don't need to worry about it.
