My rbvexim (prjtool) deals with ALL these things nicely, even with RB 5.5.5
in the upcoming 1.1.4 version.

I also forgot to mention that XML files do not contain encrypted items (but
my solution does handles these as well), although this is probably no issue
for you.

Lastly, I like to point out that while CVS is already installed on OS X,
Subversion can very easily also be locally installed, i.e. work without
a server setup. And there's no CVS UI client I know of that's as nice as
"snvX" is.
