I'm hoping for IDE improvements. I think that with native toolbars,
etc., the IDE will be much nicer to use.
However, considering the rewrite necessary to do native toolbars
with the Location Bar, I'm betting that we'll see native toolbars in
the IDE around RB 2008. (I'm not kidding!)
Perhaps I'm overlooking something, but I believe I've already done
that rewrite. My SearchFieldToolbarItem allows you to add an
HISearchField to the toolbar, and it would be straightforward to
extend it to support any MacOS control available in Carbon.
All made possible by the new compiler...
No, the location bar. Can you add a toolbar item that does
AutoComplete, etc? How difficult would it be?
Displaying the control would be easy. SearchFieldToolbarItem can be
rewritten so as to add any MacOS control to a window; I designed it
with that in mind. Implementing autocomplete would require whatever
work is required right now.
