Simply fixing the existing one is the best idea IMO. Once they have a cross platform toolbar solution, then it'd be a good idea to use it. The toolbar isn't _that_ critical. Other things are far above it on the priority list. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing it done, but the time to rewrite it is just not justified.
