I apologize for mocking Keith's visual impairment and reading
comprehension impairment. If he would like, I would make an audio
recording of TFM for him so that he could hear that the hatchet job
he posted was so typical of what passes for "facts" in the VNC crowd.
Specifically, he complains that the shared window is unreadable. It's
a feature in BSS to scale down the remote screen to fit into a window
on the viewer's screen. This eliminates scroll bars in that window,
which cause problems for people with carpal tunnel syndrome. Keith,
you can get glasses, but these poor folks can't get new hands. They win.
Specifically, he complains that he cannot access the preferences of
BSS on the remote computer vis the viewing screen. This is a
documented security issue. It prevents a remote driver from making
BSS any more open than it was in the first place. Minimizing security
problems for my users out of the box was a high priority of my design
of BSS. Clearly, it's not a focus of VNC with all the holes users
have to open up to engage in interactive screen sharing. Keith, you
can open up all the ports on your computer that you want. My users
can't. They win.
