Pict files don't work on Windows, unless you have QuickTime.

To be clear and honest, I do not care about the kind of file type to use (for saving my images). All I want is... my images stays nice (so no destructive compression), and the images been read on all possible platforms (today it is Linux, Macintosh and Windows).

When I talked about Windows rules all, I was thinking at the smallest common denominator... bmp in this case. I'd prefer a better, nicer, etc. solution.

PNG (Portable Network Graphics) correspond to the above defined criteria... 
IMHO.


It's a shame to spend so much time on that...
