Probably one of the disadvantages of them eating their own dog food at
real. Without using xCode and developing in Cocoa it is a much more
daunting task then for some developers....

The compiler is, from all I know, still not written in RB and is still
in CW so it's not the "eating their own dog food" issue.
I doubt having ported the compiler to XCode would have made much
difference (Mars would be the better person to answer that).
I think it's just a big job adding UB's and everything else they are
tackling.
