Could the problem be that the editfield is confused about the
encoding of the supplied string, anbd trying to guess the encoding.
Can you define ht estring's encoding before passing it to the
editfield. Just a guess.

I have not used the RB EditField for some years (Used/Use Waste/
WordGuise) , but there was a lot of 'complain' on the speed, and a
lot of bug reports and feature request. But I start check it out
again now with RB2006... The EditField is not an 'String', there are/
was a lot of redraw/refresh things.... As I wrote check and compare
with EditField.AppendText .... I think there are some better speed...
perhaps also some fix with the Styled text ....
