Do I get that right? French sales are only 50 to 66 % of German sales? What
about Switzerland?

I'm not surprised, the French market share has been falling steadily, mainly because there aren't places that sell Apple's. Okay, you can get a limited range from the FNAC chain, but they're not hugely big. A second Apple dealer has just opened in Marseille (France's 2nd city by importance/3rd by population) and all the rest seem to be in and around Paris. There is one in Avignon, close to me but not only do they not advertise, the one time I went there they had just 3 machines for sale (not models, just 3 units!), one model of printer and a few old scanners... Even the mail order guys are all in Paris, so it's just as easy to use the Apple Store, unless of course you want to see and use one first...
