How about an office suite like AppleWorks?
Wordprocessor/Spreadsheet?Database/Graphics app, with calendar/PDF
viewer/JPEG viewer Combo?
Please keep in mind that this project is for an article. An office
suite is a huge project that would require months or years of
programming. What I really need now is a small program that I can
write fairly quickly, and describe in a few pages. Otherwise the
article will become too long for publication.
I'm still not very good at OOP, but I have long had the idea that
some software to help manage a circus would be fun to think about,
design, write pieces of, and expand. Lots of objects, properties and
behaviors, etc...
Interesting idea. I'm not sure I know enough about circuses to know
how to manage one, unless you consider teaching to be similar to
managing a circus. :)
CommandPattern,
with Commands, including subclassed command,
configuration of commands via xml preference file,
Another good idea, but I've got articles on topics such as design
patterns in the works. I'll definitely keep this one design pattern
in mind for an example in that article.
Thanks for the suggestions so far.
