Sounds to me worth trying a Quick Fix. Since you have it so
narrowed down, and assuming the guys at RS can scare up an HP
printer with which to reproduce the problem, they may well be able
to fix it in a day or so.

So if I purchase a QuickFix (which I am willing to do if we can get
this bug squashed), what bug(s) do YOU think I should reference? All
of them?
