You obviously haven't seen it yet, you couldn't have. If you had, you
would be too busy dancing for joy in the streets. You would be
shooting guns in the air and praising whatever deity you hold holy!
Yes folks, it is that good.
"What is he talking about" you groan, once more realizing you are out
of the loop. Come up for air and check out Will Leshners newest opus,
his Masterpiece of Database Demystification, the canon of all things
REALbasic Database - Databases for Noobs
Yes, I know, Will is the guy who wrote the REALSQLDatabase plugin for
REALbasic, yes, he knows everything there is possible to know about
REALbasic databases. But what is most amazing is that he packed
everything *you* need to know into 26 concise, well written, erudite
pages. He also included complete source code and example programs.
Databases for Noobs
Bam! Pow! Your database problems are over (and just check the NUG or
the REALbasic web forums, there are thousands of people out there
struggling with this), this article will bring you from Clueless Noob
directly to Database Deity, almost without any effort on your part
(you don't even have to put down the frozen burrito you are
holding!). Just follow along with Will as he rewires your brain and
flips the hidden switch in your mind that causes the light bulb to go
off over your head. You will 'get it', I guarantee it.
But wait...there’s more!
I know, no really, I know; how could I follow that up, what could
possibly not be completely eclipsed by Databases for Noobs
Well ok, hold on to your chairs, no do more than that, put down the
frozen burrito and hang on, we have another big announcement to make
and here it is: Dr. Scott Steinman has written the definitive OOP
(Object Oriented Programming) guide for REALbasic (and any other
language that uses OOP). This is not some rinky-dink article, this
massive oasis of clarity weighs in at over 51 pages, if you print
this bad boy out, make sure you have reinforced your table and fed in
extra paper to your printer (A new ink cartridge is highly
recommended!) Not only does it explain OOP concepts it goes into the
why's and why not's of programming using OOP methodology! You get not
only amazing pearls of programming wisdom, you get full source code
to real programs for you to dissect and observe! If you are not a
100% OOP master after digesting this article, nay, novel length OOP
programming bible, I will personally refund your full purchase price.
Amazing, no?
We are still packaging up this behemoth and truth be told I have on
more than one occasion almost run out of electrons preparing it, it
is due to be posted on RBLibrary.com on 4-26-2006 but, and this is
just a maybe here (which I tell my kids, more often than not means
yes) I may get to post it a day or two early, so check often!
I won't go into to much depth with the other articles waiting for
your perusal, as I know you are going to have a good time discovering
them, but make sure you do not miss Jon Johnson's awe inspiring
article detailing step by beautiful step how to create a complete web
server in just 100 lines of code! No I mean it, build your own fully
functional web server in less code than you could possibly believe!
I went a little long today, but I know you will pardon me from my
exuberance, personally I have been waiting for these articles and I
feel like I received a gift by all the new authors. Now go forth and
do some amazing things with these articles!
Bill & Aaron
(P.S. remember, if for any reason you are unhappy and don't feel like
the articles were up to what you thought they ought to be, we will
snatch the food out of my children’s mouths and refund your purchase
price, not only happily but also with great alacrity!)
