Well, Microsoft Word, GraphicConverter, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe
Illustrator, FileMakerPro to name just 5. In GraphicConverter the pop-
up is called "Filter", in FMPro "Show", on all the rest "Enable"...
AppleWorks 6 has two pop-ups, one for Document Type, and another for
File Format.
In fact in the publishing world ie text and document handling apps,
as well as drawing and photo manipulation apps, under OS 8, 9 and X
(and probably at least 7.5, maybe earlier) it's been pretty normal
for donkey's years to have such popups in the Open Dialog.
Excel, Word Perfect, Persuasion, FreeHand, Lotus 123, InDesign are
all others that spring to mind.

That's not the case on the Mac (at least, in my experience), and on
the Mac, no such pop-up menu appears in Open dialogs. (Not to be
confused with Save As dialogs, where such menus are fairly common
and are well suppported in RB.)
