I have the same problem.
On "Run" RB2006r2 crashes all the time with an "unhandled
NilObjectException" error.
On "Build" RB2006r2 crashes about half the time, but still builds a
runnable app anyway.
The other half the time, its happy and I'm happy. Who knows why, but
it's not my code.
I already went in and handled all possible exceptions in all possible
methods, controls, windows, etc..
Re-writing or "stripping" the app is out of the question. I don't
have man-months to spend on that.
For me RB2006r2 is actually an improvement since at least I get a
built app.
2006r2 nicely comes back with settings mostly intact after a crash,
so that helps.
RB2005 wouldn't compile at all so I was really sweating the upgrade
path after 5.5.5.
My guess and hope is that REALsoftware will improve stability in
future releases.

Wrong. You should strip down your project until the error doesn't
occur anymore, then note what is causing the problem.
Unless, of course, you even get a NilObjectException when running an
empty project, which I seriously doubt.
