the problem with upgrading and trying for yourself is this: you'll do
fine with simple projects while getting the feel for the new compiler,
and in fact I very much like the look-and-feel of RB2006.

Seems to be true for me too. The IDE is still unfriendly:

Another observation:

- Loading plugins takes longer than 3 minutes during the first compile.
Dont't know, if this is default behaviour during each compile.

- During 'preloading' plugins, the IDE came unexpectedly to front several times.

- The compile preceeds with a speed of of rougly 1% per second. In total,
I'm still waiting 5 minutes for the compile to finish....

- After a total of 8 minutes, the progress bar showed 50%, but the compile instantly finished.

Now, I again have these ugly 'Yeah, we invented a new control named Close. Just rename your 'Close' controls and rewrite your code.' OK, only 8 instances in this app, not a real problem.

Well, I'm on an Intel Mac with a CoreDuo and 1,5 GByte of RAM. Only Apple.Mail is up and running. Even if I close Apple.Mail, RB doesn't get faster. I don't want
to go back to my G4 MacMini for just RB.

Let's look at activity monitor and check things: CPU load 95% of both CoreDuo Cores. RB takes 593 MByte of real memory and 'just' __1,14 GByte__ of virtual memory.

Let's give it another try - source not changed: Plugins not loaded this time, but the compile isn't a bit faster - still around 5 minutes. And this isn't my biggest project.

To be continued...
