In this case it could also be on the number crushing side as it
performs massive amounts of calculations to get get to the point. Not
sure if it is the answer though as it also feels slow when it odes
not do much graphics at all.

I've got a new MacMini 1.66 ghz Core Duo. I tried my sorting code
on it and it was substantially slower than on my 12"" Powerbook.
