In this case nothing is impossible given enough time and resources.
The idea is to make it too much trouble to break the protection.
If it cost you a week to break the encryption and the software is $29.95
its much cheaper to just buy the software.
Christians suggestion makes it more difficult to find the hidden data.
Instead of looking for "ABC" you would need to know what to look for
since the string would be in a numeric format. Humans are really
good at spotting text that makes sense. "PASSWORD" is much easier
to visually locate than is "50415353574f5244".
