Well, whenever a file is grayed out in an OpenFile dialog, it means that its
file type does not match the Mac type defined for your FileType. (Or in the
case of untyped files on OS X, it means the extension does not match.) So,
simply look at the MacType of a file you can't load, and there you have the
"other" file type that you should consider supporting.

As a guess, I think you'd want to support both TEXT and 3DMF, since some 3DMF
files really are text files and you may find examples which were last saved by
a standard text editor.

Out of curiosity, what 3DMF viewer are you talking about?

Best,
- Joe
