What a joke! :-) What gives you that idea. They are completely
different tools for one. RB will have its place in the Linux world,
but I doubt it will ever gain the marketshare all the languages you
mentioned have. RB is great for rapid (crossplatform) desktop
application development. Some Linux developers might try it out,
but if you're heavy into java or C++ and already have heaps of
libraries at your disposal, I doubt RB will even be considered.

Completely agree.
But RB for Linux is not interesting just for desktop applications: we
have a couple of console applications developed using RB that run
just fine.
