Can someone offer some database engine advice? I have been with Real Basic
long enough to see them go through three database models and deprecate the
previous one each time. I am tired of having to change my code, and having ask
my
users to convert their files - in some cases dozens of files. Also, I would
like to have a system of multiple users accessing a central database on a
company
network - nothing too fancy - just the ability for a user to pull stuff in
read only or writable depending on which things he assigned to have access to,
and to prevent two people from changing the same stuff at the same time.

I am also thinking down the line. If I go with a portal based application
that would access the same database, I would need a generic database.

Can someone recommend a course of action, or a third party db plugin or
license?

thanks

Greg
