I'm a Mac/Unix guy and don't know Win very well, but I'd expect that you cannot force *your app* to use more CPU time. The OS decides which app may
use CPU time - and that's probably the way to go on Win, too.

Yet some apps manage to constistantly get 90% CPU use?

I don't know if this is just luck on their part, or they know something I don't know, but some Mac apps are able to do this.
